Our story..

My family and I have been producing our unique range of high quality curds, jams, preserves, marmalades and chutneys for over 25 years. It all started back in 1981 when we found ourselves with a surplus of eggs from our farm. Not wishing them to go to waste, my husband Tom encouraged me to use the eggs to make a batch of my Lemon Curd (his favourite!), and to see if I could sell it to local shops in nearby towns.

As luck would have it; my husband wasn't the only fan; and requests started to pour in from customers, asking whether I might consider selling my other homemade jams, marmalades and chutneys too. So I took out my mother's recipe books and decided to give it a go. Soon the farmhouse was just too small and in 1985 Tom converted farm buildings into a new kitchen. Ladies from the local village were drafted in to help me with the making of my homemade curd, jam, preserves and chutneys and my daughter Sarah also joined the team. Since then we've just kept growing, relocating to even bigger premises in 1992.

My daughter Sarah shares my passion for cookery and between us we've created a range of over 65 products so far with further new ones always in the pipeline. Our aim is simply to craft delicious jam and preserves with a truly homemade taste. For us, Mrs Darlington's remains very much a personal, family affair - run today by my husband and I together with our daughters Sarah and Wendy; and a terrific small team many of whom started the journey with me over 25 years ago..

The proof of our success? The taste..

Our customers have been telling us how great our products taste for years, and over the past few years it seems like the 'powers that be' at the Great Taste Awards are catching on. In 2005 our Legendary Lemon Curd won a Great Taste Award and more recently our Beetroot Chutney and Blackcurrant Jam have won Great Taste Awards from the Guild of Fine Food Retailers.
